This was the final assignment for my Introduction to Illustrator class. I was assigned to create a design a scene, such as a room, and draw it isometrically. I took inspiration from my populated plans from a year ago and staged the scene of a college freshman's dorm room. I wanted to get as detailed as I did with my previous project, so I decided to capture the dorm as if the main character was inundated with assignments and she could not keep up with it. My other goal with the assignment was to capture her personality in a single snapshot. I included records on the walls, books on the shelves, video games, and interior decoration choices in order to give the viewer a glimpse of what she is like.
This was definitely my favorite of the five projects I created for VIST 284. Upon completion I took a serious interest into wimmelbilder, a type of drawing which is heavily populated with people, objects, animals, etc. Its intention is for the viewer to look at it for long periods of time and find little, specific details within them. The popular "Where's Waldo" series is an example of wimmelbilder.
